ABA Consultation and Instruction
Consultants are Board Certified Behavior Analysts with degrees in either Applied Behavior Analysis or Behavioral Education. Program Managers have extensive experience and formal coursework in ABA. In order to provide exceptional educational services, Advances ensures that each program receives ample oversight by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and ongoing supervision by our qualified Program Managers. All staff members receive ongoing professional development in Applied Behavior Analysis and special education. Advances Learning Center is committed to providing education services that are individually designed for each student. Each child’s personal learning history and preferences are taken into account as specialized curricula are developed. We don’t have one way of doing things; we let the child’s learning determine how we teach.
Individualized Training
Our Family Trainings and Staff Trainings are individualized to the recipients and take into consideration their background, previous training, and learning objectives. We use interactive methods, such as role-play, video-feedback, guided notes, and fluency training to ensure that our trainees are fully engaged in learning skills that are immediately applicable to their situation.
Curriculum Development
Individualized curricula are developed for students receiving ABA instruction. Each teaching objective has a systematic progression, beginning at the level at which the student is currently successful, and gradually increasing task difficulty and decreasing support. Each curriculum sheet provides instructions for materials, task presentation, prompting and prompt-fading, reinforcement and generalization. A skill that is only displayed in one setting is not functional for the student. That is why Advances makes sure that each teaching program is specifically designed to facilitate generalization. Procedures that promote generalization are used and there are specific generalization steps in each instructional protocol.
Social Skills Assessment
The Advances Comprehensive Social Skills Assessment is a non-standardized skill-based assessment tool available exclusively at Advances Learning Center. This comprehensive assessment uses direct observation in the natural environment, 1:1 testing, parent interview and teacher interview to assess body language, beginning conversation, advanced conversation, independent play, pretend play, cooperative play, social conventions, and perspective-taking. A report detailing findings and giving recommendations for next learning objectives is completed within 6 weeks of testing.
